Welcome to SEPTA

Welcome to Pelham’s Special Education PTA (SEPTA), and thank you for choosing to support us.

We are a district-wide organization of parents, administrators and teaching staff that is dedicated to the support and education of families with exceptional children. We recognize that students have a broad range of learning styles and abilities, and we work collaboratively to help empower families and their children to achieve their highest potential. In addition, we aspire to improve community awareness, acceptance, and support, of students with a range of learning differences, physical and cognitive abilities, and social or emotional challenges. Your membership dues help us fulfill all aspects of this mission.

SEPTA, which includes at least one dedicated liaison in each school, is here to answer your questions, offer support and encouragement, help you navigate services, and give you the opportunity to connect with other families experiencing similar challenges. You can reach us by email, attending our meetings, visiting our Facebook page or through our new website which will be launching soon.

We hold meetings and workshops 3-4 times each school year, providing guest speakers on topics such as innovative support programs, learning styles, advocacy and therapeutic approaches. Our next one is on Thursday, February 13, at 6pm in the PMS library, and includes a workshop focusing on “finding the right summer programs/camps for kids with learning differences and/or special needs”. Please mark it on your calendar – it was a big hit last year, and provides a lot of invaluable information.

We look forward to meeting you soon,
best regards,

Sarah Frei and Rose Horley
